I am honored and humbled to be serving as the first director for this much needed organization in Manhattan. I have had the privilege of fostering queer youth with my partner and the even greater privilege of some of those youth calling me Mom. My time as a foster parent and my children's stories definitely motivate me daily to do all I can for these amazing humans. I dream of the True Colors house to be a safe, affirming space where youth can come to find resources, mental health services, and ultimately a space to be their most authentic selves. Hello! I am Quinlan Brown, and I am currently the social work practicum student/intern for True Colors. I am so excited to be here. I am in my final semester at Kansas State University and am getting my bachelor's degree in social work. I am originally from south Kansas City, Missouri, but I moved to Olathe, Kansas when I was 11; I consider Olathe my hometown and it is where I graduated from Olathe Northwest High School. I moved to Manhattan for college in 2021 and have been here ever since. I hope to get my master’s degree in clinical social work in the next few years and eventually become a trauma therapist. I will always be an advocate for the queer community and those who are apart of vulnerable communities. I am happy to be a part of the True Colors house!

Hi, my name is Jinx! I am a friendly, fluffy, non-binary cat that loves to make biscuits in your lap. I prefer to spend my days loafing on my Mom while she works or keeping watch at the front door. I will also steal food right off your plate, unapologetically. The youth board voted having a cat in the house would be beneficial for everyone who visits. I'm a natural ice-breaker and research shows I reduce anxiety.

Hi, my name is Princess! I am the volunteer coordinator here at True Colors. I have been with True Colors since the beginning and loved developing relationships with the youth that attend the house. I was excited to get others involved and help grow True Colors. I have two babies of my own, a 3 year old and 1 year old, who keep me busy! I also love plants and crystals- and you can frequently find me sourcing new ones to add to my collection. Also, I am an artist and like to paint in my spare time. 

Hello, everyone! I'm Obsidian. I was in need of a new home and True Colors thought, what's better than one black cat? Two! I am the resident mouser and lounger who is always up for a game of fetch. I taught my sibling to jump up on counters to keep a better lookout for squirrels and birds. If you can't find me, I am probably hiding somewhere waiting for someone to walk by so I can playfully pounce on them!
